We recently spoke with Jim Knight, former HR Executive with Hard Rock International. He talked about what companies need to consider when hiring new employees.

Here is what Knight had to say about what makes for a successful candidates:

  • Solid Competence – Employees have to be smart enough to do the job, or they at least must have the wherewithal to gain the competence.
  • Strong Character – Employees should care about the company and the job they do.
  • Represent the Culture – An employee has to have the right fit. This can supersede the previous two.

Knight says, “For great brands experience and tenure are no longer enough.” It’s important to hire people who ‘get it’ and can help your brand grow.
